About

The Person
Erik S. Powers is the person behind Powers of Touch. Erik is a Certified Massage Therapist since 2001. He first started with Aurora Health Care and has now successfully started his own business offering massages, advice on eating healthy and services as a personal trainer.

Philosophy
Erik believes all strength comes thru muscle balance and training the muscles to work as one unit. We get injured due to the lack of strength in one particular muscle area. Muscles must be developed for strength in order to achieve the balance to live a healthy life.

Career History
Erik earned his Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology/Biology from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. From there he attended Blue Sky Massage School and completed his massage license in 1995.

He began practicing as part of the Aurora Physical Rehabilitation program focusing on pre-post physical therapy massage.

One of Erik’s specialties is his focus on site specific massage. When a client or a client referral comes to him with pain, he finds great satisfaction in helping that person return to good health.

Professional Awards
Erik began competing in Professional Lifestyle Natural Competitions with his first show in 2004. He was proud to take the Men’s trophy for the Light/Heavy Weight Division in the Madison Competition.

From there he took the Men’s Open/Overall award for 2006 in Milwaukee at the World Natural Sports Organization show then took 12th place in the WNSO show in Toronto.

Erik attended the 2007 North America Championship in Miami earning 2nd place and then received his Master Pro Card when competing in Sheboygan in 2012 at the NAINBF.

Family
Erik grew up in Colgate being the youngest of three children. He enjoyed watching his father weight train as he was an intense boxer and was religious with his workout regimen. Erik can remember as a young kid having an obsession with muscles as to how and why they worked. His own athletics started with participation in wresting and football as a high school athlete.

He enjoys spending time with his own children, Taylor and Ethan, who are growing up way too fast.

Future Goals
Erik practices at three different locations for the convenience of his clients with offices in Hales Corners, Waukesha and Glendale/Fox Point.

Erik has plans to open his own facility where he can continue to offer massage but also assist in teaching his clients correct stretching, training methods and offer nutritional counseling.
